Before the Shoot:
Q: My little ones take naps during the day and then go to bed early… what time can we hold my session?
A: My sessions are about an hour after sunrise {typically no earlier than 8:30}, and an hour and a half before sunset.
Q: I’ve got this muffin top and I obviously don’t want it to show! What should I wear?
A: Don’t we all have something we want to diminish? I understand that! Through careful and thoughtful positioning, we can completely eliminate that lovely extra cargo most of us have. Besides, when you’re playing, laughing and enjoying your family the focus will be on your love rather than your {or your hubby’s} extra handles. If you’re still concerned about that muffin top, I would refer to the old rule – only daring women should wear horizontal stripes!
Q: So I’ve got these dark circles under my eyes. What can I do to diminish them in my images.
A: Make sure the night before you and everyone else in your family gets PLENTY OF SLEEP! It will make for a happier, fresh-faced you … and as a bonus, your kids will be too!
Q: We all need haircuts & I definitely need to cover the gray in my hair! When is the best time to do this?
A: To ensure that you all look like you do in real life, make sure you wait at least 2 weeks (1 week will do if you’re pushed for time) after having any kind of hair changes . This applies even for the boys/men; that way any tan lines that have developed around the hairline have time to fade.
Q: I am totally panicked about what everyone should wear! Help! What do you suggest?
A: This is one of my most common questions and I always say the same thing … be a little selfish – dress yourself first! Figure out what your favorite shirt/outfit is; something you feel fabulous in, and THEN dress the rest of the family! Remember, when Mom feels good – EVERYONE feels good! If you need further help, think of the entire family as one big outfit. This means not everyone needs to wear the same thing … unless you really like that look. My goal is to photograph you and your family as you are. And let’s face it, you don’t walk around town all wearing the same thing! Develop a scheme of colors … some can wear a print with those colors, some can wear one of the colors and others can wear a combination of those colors. An easier idea is to all wear shades of the same color, or complimentary colors {purple & green; blue & orange; red & green; etc.}.
If you’re still stuck bring options, and remember we can always do all black & white images then it doesn’t matter what color everyone wears!
Q: I haven’t had a pedicure in a long time … having an excuse to get one would really be nice!
A: How perfect for you … get your toes ready! I love capturing images with bare feet; so be ready to lose those shoes and socks during our photo shoot. {Yes, even the blackberry toting hubby will be loosing his shoes!} Shoes tend to look very cumbersome and outdated and once I ask a client {or child} to take off the shoes, they seem to relax and have more fun; which always makes for the best images!
Q: My wife has been asking me for YEARS to have our pictures taken … all she talks about is how she really wants a nice picture of us altogether. Do you offer gift certificates?
A: You’re in luck … and a good husband for inquiring! Yes! I do offer gift certificates! Just give me a call or email me and we’ll figure out the best plan of action for you and your wife!

During the Shoot:
Q: How long does the photo session take; after all my husband and middle schooler can’t go very long without being on their cell phones!
A: A typical family photo session will last no longer than 90 minutes. On most occasions a family of 5 will experience an hour long session full of giggles, & laughs and by the time we’re finished your teen & hubby are SHOCKED they haven’t even thought about their cell phones!
Q: Oh my! Little Johnny has a temperature & a runny nose! What is your policy on rescheduling?
A: Being a mom of 4, I COMPLETELY understand the middle of the night cries, or the mornings you wake-up to find your little one is sick. It’s inevitable. No worries. If that happens, just give me a quick call and we’ll find a different time for your session. *Please note, if there is an excessive amount of “rescheduling” I reserve the right to require an additional photo session fee.*
Q: My hair just doesn’t do well in the rain …. It just gets all frizzy and I look like a total mess! What can we do?
A: Good news! My CAMERA doesn’t like the rain either!
If there is a chance of rain, I will be in touch the day before your scheduled session and we’ll figure out a game plan. We may need to reschedule, and we may be ok … believe it or not, overcast skies are actually a good time to have a photo session!
Q: I just got back from my photo session with you and I had a BLAST! I can’t wait to see my images … how long will it take?
A: Every session will follow with a few sneak peeks on my blog that will typically be posted the next day. After your sneak peeks you can expect to hear back from me about 1 week later to schedule your ordering session. At that time we, together, will view your slideshow, and then look through each of your gorgeous images. From there I will help you figure out an order that will fit your needs and desires!
Q: I just got my prints … thank you they are fab! Now, my mother-in-law is insisting on having some too! What can I do?
A: Easy! Forward your online gallery login and password to your mother-in-law and let her place an order! It can be shipped directly to her, so you don’t need to worry about a thing!
Q: How long will you keep my images? I’m not sure we got everything we wanted…
A: It is the artist in me that won’t allow me to part with your images. They become sort of like my children … I just can’t seem to push the delete button. Because of that, once you place an order, your digital images will be kept FOREVER and will always be available for reprinting, and/or purchasing.
